First Aid Programmes

The minimum requirement by most industries for first aid was known as Senior First Aid, but in February 2007, the new Health Training Package was endorsed and includes units of Competency for first aid.

The Industry Skills Council changes the title of the units from Senior First Aid to HLTFA301B Apply First Aid.

HLTFA301B Apply First Aid includes the CPR component or there is also a separate unit of competency titled HLTCPR Perform CPR.
HLTFA301B Apply First Aid is valid for three years from the date of issue, but the CPR component is only valid for 12 months from the date of issue. The Australian Resuscitation Council which governs the first aid industry, have recommended this is because it is unlikely that CPR will be performed and the learner is likely to forget how to do it.
