CHC30102   Certificate III in Aged Care

Workers in this occupational group work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans.  These workers carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual’s personal care and/or other activities of living. They report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.

            Course Packaging Rules

13 units must be selected for this qualification including:

-        9 compulsory units

-        4 elective units

CHCAC2C        Provide personal care

CHCAC3C        Orientation to aged care work

CHCAC6C        Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs

CHCAC15A       Provide care and support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia

CHCCOM2B     Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues

CHCINF8B         Comply with information requirements of the aged care and community care sectors

CHCOHS302A  Participate in safety procedures for direct care work

CHCORG3B       Participate in the work environment


 

 

Elective Units

Four electives must be selected for the Certificate III in Aged Care qualification. The following elective options are offered by Essentra through face-to-face delivery:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process of acknowledging skills and/or knowledge already gained through formal training, work experience and/or life experience. Essentra’s RPL process focuses on identifying whether applicants hold endorsed industry or enterprise Competency Units, regardless of how, when or where the learning occurred.

Talk to Essentra about RPL if you believe you have already achieved the Competency standards for any of the Units from Certificate III in Aged Care package.

CHC40302   Certificate IV in Disability Work

Workers in this occupational group work in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes. These workers apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation. These workers report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies.

Workers in this group may work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or co-ordinate a limited number of lower classified workers. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.
